A Bantay Bata Case: The First Recipient

On June 15, 2007, just within the very same day after the meeting with Bantay Bata 163, Assistant Vice-President for Human Resources and Organization Development Division Jude Orlando Tiongco received a call from its staff.

Ivan Sande B. Sasota, an infant, was the first recipient of Free Memorial Services for Infants on that very same day.  This was a great help to Ivan’s family, since his father, Sam Sasota, works only as a taxi driver, while his mother, Irene Sasota, has no job because she has to take care of Ivan when he was still alive.

Ivan was rushed to the Philippine Children’s Hospital because he was suffering severe stomach aches. After examining the child, the doctors had found out that Ivan was suffering from infection sepsis; a complex illness where his body over-reacts to an infection and bacteria was found in the blood and is sometimes referred as “blood infection” or “blood poisoning”.  Ivan is also suffering from hydrocephalus.  Apparently, he died due to the complication of sepsis on the eve of June 14, 2007.

“Malaki ang pasasalamat naming mag-asawa sa St. Peter dahil sa libreng serbisyo na ibinigay nila sa aming anak.  Matagal din siyang naratay sa ospital at nagagalak kami dahil kahit papaano ay nagkaroon siya ng disenteng libing.  Nabawasan din ang aming mga problema lalo na ang pinansyal dahil sa tulong na ibinigay ng St. Peter sa amin.  Nagpapasalamat talaga kami sa St. Peter.” Sam Sasota said.

Sam was very grateful for the help that was offered to them since he already spent a lot for the hospital expenses.  He was thankful to St. Peter Chapels and Bantay Bata 163 for such help.

God’s hands reach out to provide graces and blessings to people who are in need.  Perhaps in this situation, St. Peter Chapels became one of his instruments by extending assistance through our expertise – world-class DeathCare services.  We believe that everyone deserves to leave the earth dignified.
