Education has always been valued by many as a treasure. In fact, a lot of parents work hard to put their children in the best schools. As Filipino parents would always say, “edukasyon lang ang tangi naming maipapamana sa aming mga anak”.
In most cases, education plays a big factor in determining the kind of life one will be leading. A higher education means better chances of landing a high paying and rewarding job. Education, likewise, instills and strengthens in each one the will to do better in life, the resolve to uplift his/her current social status, the inspiration to be better not just for oneself but for the country as well.
And with all the benefits of a good education, SPLPI designed a program for its valuable employees. It aims to provide assistance to further one’s achievement and to inspire people to continue learning regardless of position, age or even financial status. The scholarship program, aptly called Employees Scholarship Program (ESP), started in 2002 with 7 applicants. All of them enrolled in prestigious graduate schools such as Ateneo,
La Salle and UP in Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and other Masters degree courses for middle managers. Some have already graduated with MBA degrees tucked under their belts.
Currently, a total of 37 have availed of and enrolled under the ESP. These are SPLPI’s new scholars. It is fitting that SPLPI has a hand in molding these future leaders because they will be the ones who will continue the good work of the present leaders.
In the words of Tatay Francisco, “nawa’y guminhawa ang buhay ng bawat St. Peterian.” And SPLPI is providing one way of fulfilling this… by making “iskolars” out of St. Peterians.
